An interesting and exciting opportunity has risen for a Health and Social Care Support Worker at HMP Liverpool. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive individual to join our healthcare team at HMP Liverpool. The team includes a wide range of experienced, skilled individuals including nurses, paramedics, clinical support workers, pharmacy technicians, pharmacist, ANP, physiotherapist, administration support workers and more.

You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using your skills, experience and knowledge to help define and deliver care to those with often complex needs.  As well as providing excellent care to service users, you will also support colleagues in developing the service.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Expected to respond to requests from clinical staff, administration staff and prisoners in relation to individual prisoner needs.

Escorting visitors and deliveries to the healthcare department

Work as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.

Ensuring the safe and appropriate disposal of waste materials according to legal requirements.

Ensure medical devices are available, in working order and annual checks and repairs are coordinated.

To carry out daily and monthly environmental monitoring checks

Providing personal care to patients with a social care plan including aiding patients with showers, washing, dressing, shaving, helping patients to eat and drink.

To work as part of the Primary and Substance Misuse Team in providing specific care and monitoring to patients in the secure setting as written in the care plan.

To provide low level monitoring of patients on the caseload of the offender health nursing team under the direction of the designated team leader/staff nurse.

To monitor skin integrity of patients at risk of pressure sores formation and provide basic preventative information.

To contribute to reviews for patients who require social care.

Receive, allocate and dispatch internal/external mail and process internal applications for healthcare in line with policy to ensure urgent matters are brought to the attention of the person responsible, so that responses are dealt with quickly and within set guidelines.

The Prison Healthcare Service provides a full range of cost effective and efficient clinical services and interventions that meet prisoner healthcare needs during their stay in prison and on their release.

The overall aim of the service is to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of prisoners.

The post holder will provide day to day support for the healthcare and substance misuse team, supporting them in the delivery of a Gold Standard level of patient care. The post holder will deliver personal care  as well as administration duties and work flexibly in response to the service needs. They will work as part of a team using own initiative to respond to situations in a professional effective and proactive manner.

  • The ability to work flexibly in accordance with service needs.
