Job overview
This is an exciting time to join NHS England’s Innovation, Research, and Life Sciences Strategy team to lead our Service Delivery function. This is developing our data strategy and a product development roadmap. The role includes oversight and expansion of established products including the NHS Innovation Service and driving the maximum value from our information assets. You’ll work with stakeholders from across the Innovation Ecosystem to improve innovator access and navigation.
This is a leadership role, with an opportunity to impact on how innovations reach the NHS quicker than ever before.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Lead a team that develops products and services that support innovator navigation and generates value from our information assets.
- Draw on professional experience to support product development and a roadmap.
- Oversee the development of a data strategy to maximise the value of our assets.
- Have knowledge of key players and trends within the innovation and technology sector
- Own senior-level stakeholder relationships across the research and innovation ecosystems
- Coach individuals and support a culture of inclusivity and high performance, and have a commitment to personal development

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As Head of Service Delivery, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team that develops products and services that support innovator navigation and generates value from our information assets. This includes both mature products such as the NHS Innovation Service as well as leading a roadmap for new products and data offers.
· Knowledge of key players and trends within the technology sector and able to support broader market intelligence of the AAC team within those sectors
· Knowledge and experience of the development pathway for products within specific technology sector and experience of working with or in companies developing products, ideally within NHS environment
· Technical and scientific knowledge in relevant field and ability to engage with innovator companies on technical and scientific detail related to technology
· Knowledge and experience of the specific barriers to adoption of relevant technologies within the NHS including commercial, data, procurement, and regulatory requirements
· Knowledge of product development approaches, or knowledge of developing information assets.
The post holder will develop effective strategy and operational policies for promoting innovation, working closely with colleagues.
