Job overview
The post holder will oversee the delivery of the ICM training Programme in NHSE England North West. It will cover the NW part of the Scheme.
The post holder will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the North West School of Intensive Care Medicine and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.
The post holder will be a member of the School Board and Intensive Care Medicine Speciality Training committee.
Please note this is a 3-year secondment extendable to a maximum of three years, subject to mutual agreement.

· Work in collaboration with Head of School of Intensive Care Medicine to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy which supports the recruitment and retention of ICM Trainees and to promote health and well-being

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To support the Head of School in managing trainee underperformance with the support of the Lead Associate Dean for the specialty, in line with the NHSE North West Office Doctors and Dentists Review Group/Trainees Requiring Enhanced Support framework.
· To attend the Specialty School Board and support the Head of School in facilitating appropriate engagement from Training Programme Directors and other stakeholders.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine on the Specialist Register
- Consultant currently working in NHS Trust in NW England
- Member / Fellow of the Royal College of Intensive Care Medicine
Desirable criteria
- Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with doctors in an educational context
- Experience as an educational supervisor especially for ICM trainees
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Manager experience
- Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education would be desirable
- Experience in Recruitment
- Awareness of funding streams for Healthcare Education
- Understanding the Workforce Transformation agenda
Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable leadership skills, consistent with own personal style, and an ability to motivate others
- Effective interpersonal skills, as well as written and oral presentation skills
- Committed to own professional development and learning
