Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join the Centre for Advancing Practice.
This postholder will support a programme of work underpinned by the need for a flexible, productive and affordable healthcare workforce that meets the needs of patients, reflecting evolving care pathways and the values set out in the NHS Constitution and NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of multiple high-profile projects. You will lead cross-functional teams, ensuring programme objectives are delivered on time, within scope, and budget while meeting the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, manage project risks, and provide expert guidance to support strategic decision-making.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you’ll usually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Centre for Advancing Practice is part of a wider portfolio of programmes and there is an expectation that the teams will work closely together in a matrix programme environment. Even though your responsibilities will mainly relate to Advancing Practice there is opportunity to be involved in other elements of the team’s wider portfolio.
You must be able to evidence excellent programme management skills, demonstrate the ability to manage day-to-day competing priorities, communication well across a range of internal and external stakeholders and a working knowledge of MS office suite.

- Educated to Masters Level or equivalent level of experience
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
Experience and Knowledge

- Experience of project management

- Experience of monitoring budgets
- Experience of the business planning processes
- Programme management (multiple projects simultaneously)
- Knowledge of the Advanced Practice agenda
Skills and Ability
Essential criteria
- Capable of effective project planning over long, medium, and short-term planning horizon - managing risk, budgets and resources
- Ability to influence partners and stakeholders and to reach agreement on contentious matters
- Working knowledge of different Microsoft Packages
Desirable criteria
- Experience of line management / managing a team
