Market Management Director - New Hospital Programme

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Market Management Director to lead our market management team within the New Hospital Programme (NHP). This role is pivotal in shaping and sustaining a market capable of delivering the innovative and ambitious goals of the NHS's Health Infrastructure Plan.

About the Role: As the Market Management Director, you will develop and implement strategies to ensure the market has the right capability and capacity to meet NHP's requirements. You will lead a team at the heart of NHP's delivery efforts, engaging with senior leadership and managing supplier performance to drive continuous improvement.

About the Team: The New Hospital Programme is dedicated to transforming hospital construction, achieving significant savings through repeatable design, modern construction methods, new clinical planning approaches, and innovations in sustainability and digital technology. You will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to these goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Represent NHP as an expert and thought leader in Market Management. Develop and lead the Industrial and Market Management strategies and objectives, ensuring alignment with NHP's overall goals. Act as a senior national role model for inclusion and programme values.
  • Industrial Strategy: Identify the strategic focus to engage industry on for the NHP, providing the structure and direction of change needed to enable the delivery of the NHP. Work across the programme to create a robust implementation plan to deliver the change with industry.
  • Market Strategy: Create and implement a sustainable Market Strategy to build a resilient and diverse national pool of suppliers. Ensure the market can deliver innovative solutions and meet NHP's capacity requirements.
  • Supplier Performance: Lead supplier performance management, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in supplier engagement.
  • Market Engagement: Develop and execute a comprehensive Market Engagement Strategy to attract and manage suppliers. Engage with industry to identify innovative contracting models and enhance market capability and capacity.
  • Market Analysis: Oversee market analysis to assess supplier capability and capacity, inform pre-contract strategies, and ensure the market can deliver the latest innovations.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educated to a master’s level or equivalent experience in a similar role within large, complex organizations.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder and supplier relationship management.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex transactions and organisational change.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Relevant professional qualifications in programme or contract management.
  • Experience in the health sector or public sector procurement.
  • Commercial experience in the manufacturing and infrastructure industries.
