Job overview
NHS England South East Region Medical Directorate wishes to appoint an Associate Medical Director to support the work of the Higher Level Responsible Officer (HLRO). This is a part time role accountable to the Regional Medical Director (RMD) who is also the HLRO.
In the south east region, approximately 24,000 doctors work in more than 134 organisations across all healthcare sectors. The Associate Medical Director will work as part of a small team, on behalf of the HLRO, supporting these organisations to make sure the environment in which their doctors work, is focused on improving and maintaining the safety and quality of patient care.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an exceptional candidate who is medically qualified with a current UK licence to practise. You will demonstrate proven senior level leadership experience working as a board director or equivalent within an NHS secondary care or independent health sector organisation. You will also have expert knowledge and understanding of medical professional regulation and be a champion for medical appraisal and professional standards.

- Significant experience of being a Responsible Officer for a secondary care or independent sector provider or significant experience deputising on behalf of a Responsible Officer of a secondary care or independent sector provider.
- Expert knowledge of the Medical Professions Responsible Officer Regulations from a senior leadership role.
