Estates Maintenance Assistant - GRADE B

We provide a wide range of services from traditional facilities management and estate maintenance, to sterile services, wheelchair engineering and procurement, to clients both within and beyond the NHS.

Job overview

AGH Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and provides Estates, Facilities and procurement services for the Trust.

We are looking for a Estates Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for highly motivated and professional individuals capable of working well within our current Estates team.

Main duties of the job

To undertake, without supervision a variety of tasks which would include:-

  • Lighting Checks
  • Replacement of lighting tubes or bulbs
  •  Cleaning diffusers                                         
  • Fixing of notice boards, clocks, notices etc
  •  Replacement of damaged ceiling tiles           
  •  Cleaning extract fans and ventilation grilles
  • Replacement/re-fixing of toilet seats             
  • Replacement/re-fixing of hand/safety rails
  • Inspection and first aid repairs to flooring 
  • Re-washering hot and cold water taps
  • Temperature checks water services             
  • Care of curtain tracks, blinds etc

 Assist Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers and other staff groups in the repair, service and inspection of building, mechanical, electrical, associated systems. This would include plant and equipment in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the fabric of the hospital to provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of secondary education to GCSE level or better in Maths English and Craft Studies.
Desirable criteria
  • Computer user and application skills

Skills & Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to problem solving and broad knowledge of the work requirements and patterns of other trades
  • Able to use own initiative in relation to problem solving in order to resolve situations to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Ability to work as an individual with a minimum of supervision or as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
  • Has had some formal H&S training
  • Has some form of formal qualification in a building service discipline

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate a reasonable knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in the workplace and how these should be applied in relation to particular tasks and situations
  • Has knowledge with regard to the safe use of portable tools and access equipment and modern fixing techniques

Experience

Essential criteria
  • To have recent relevant experience of working within a maintenance function aimed at ensuring the quality and standard of the built environment
  • Able to substantiate at interview knowledge and experience in relation to the routine maintenance of building services and other relative experience claimed within the application form
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital\healthcare\care home environment

Other

Essential criteria
  • Has a clean driving licence for a four wheeled vehicle and is able to drive to other trust properties when required
