Main duties of the job
Your Apprenticeship
You'll start your apprenticeship programme in December 2024 with our Corporate Governance team. Across the 20 month programme, we will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills and achieve your fully funded professional qualification, Corporate Governance Officer - Level 4, learning through our provider, CSA.
As the Corporate Governance Officer Apprentice, you will play a key role in providing administrative support to Trust’s Corporate Governance function with the opportunity to learn and grow as part of a collegial team. This role will allow the successful candidate to learn about Governors, Membership, Board formation along with legal and regulatory requirements. This will provide a strong foundation to how Corporate Governance works in a multi-faceted team while providing a real contribution to the Corporate Governance of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To comply with the apprenticeship eligibility rules, at the start of the apprenticeship you must be aged 18 or over, living in England, and not in full time education and have the right to work in the UK.
To apply for this role, you must:
- Not have a governance qualification at level 4 or higher
- Have or willing to work towards as part of the apprenticeship, GCSE A-C/level 2 certificate in maths and English (those without certificates can be assessed to check you are at level 2 standard).
- Not be an overseas national subject to employment or learning restrictions and/or a time or a limit on my stay (other than a refugee or asylum seeker)
- Be ordinarily resident in the England, EU or EAA for at least the previous three years before the start of the programme.
- Not be attending any other school, Further Education or Higher Education institution.
- Willing to undergo a DBS check (disclosure and barring check)

Knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS Corporate Governance practices
- Knowledge of Foundation Trust basic governance structure (Board of Directors and Council of Governors).
Skills
Essential criteria
- A strong commitment towards successfully completing the Level 4 Corporate Governance Officer Apprenticeship
- Good spoken and written English (including good grammar), with the ability to clearly communicate both in person and in writing.
- Excellent organising and co-ordinating skills
- Able to form relationships and liaise with different members of the organisation in different roles and levels.
- A drive to be curious, to understand problems and want to solve them
- Experience of prioritising workload in a work or a social/personal environment
Desirable criteria
- IT and digital skills set (e.g. comfortable learning new software by doing, such as Google Docs, online project management systems and remote collaboration tools such as MS Teams/Yammer).
- Ability to use Microsoft Office IT systems and software packages
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Willingness to work towards GCSE A-C/Level 2 in Maths and English as part of the apprenticeship
Desirable criteria
- GCSE A-C/Level 2 in Maths and English.
