Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic Communications Assistant to join Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s communications, community engagement team and charity teams.

If you are interested in working on a variety of projects, using your communications skills to produce documents and presentations, support media relations and communication campaigns, and provide event management support, then this could be the role for you.

Team-working is vital to achieving positive outcomes and you’ll be expected to work closely with colleagues in the department and across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

As an integral part of the communications, community engagement and charity teams, you will support a wide range of projects and initiatives and will support on a number of key areas including external communications, internal communications, media and social media, design and events.

The Communications Assistant role includes the provision of support in a number of areas and processes, prioritising of workload, identifying problems, analysing them and finding solutions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will support the wider team in delivering internal and external communications plans and projects, as well as responding to internal and external enquiries and requests.  You will also be required to deal with sensitive and complex issues, providing support to the team where necessary.  Above all, you must have a positive, can-do attitude.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant study area or able to demonstrate competency at level 4 in a communications assistant position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of producing documents and presentations to high standards of accuracy and presentation
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work on own initiative and meet deadlines
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications to a high standard and experience of using social media systems
  • Ability to identify problems/issues, seek information, analyse, evaluate and put forward an appropriate solution
