These are exciting times at Yorkshire Ambulance Service as our Operating Model is being embedded and we implement our new five-year Strategy, YAS Together (cultural programme), Values and Behavioural Framework.

 We are looking to recruit an Associate Director of People Development to contribute to this transformation. This is a key leadership role, and you will be required to consolidate your knowledge and experience to shape and implement Trust wide YAS Together culture change plans, Academy Education, Health and Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion plans. 

You will be a member of the People Directorate Senior Leadership Team providing leadership both within the people team and as a senior leader across the organisation. You will support the Director of People to shape the development of the operating model to support realisation of the Trust's objectives within our five-year strategy.

Main duties of the job

You will provide strong, demonstrable leadership to our ambition to be a diverse and inclusive organisation with a culture of continuous improvement, where everyone feels valued, included, proud to work and can thrive. You will work closely with senior leaders to improve people development , while ensuring that our service fulfils the needs of our clinical and non-clinical teams in line with our values – Kindness, Respect, Teamwork, and Improvement. You will be Senior Responsible Office (SRO) lead of the NHS People Promise exemplar programme and award-winning YAS Academy. This role is fundamental to making a significant difference to our patients, our people,the community we serve and our partners.

 

 You will promote inclusion and reducing inequalities, demonstrating compassionate leadership and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and excellence across key people practices and processes.

 The post holder should have a higher degree (e.g. MA, MSc, MBA) in relevant discipline e.g. human resources, organisational development, leadership, education and/or equivalent comparable industry experience. They should have significant experience of working at senior management level in a similar sized and complex organisation.

Qualifications/ Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Higher degree (e.g. MA, Msc, MBA) in relevant discipline e.g. human resources, organisational development, leadership, education/or the equivalent comparable industry experience
  • Significant experience of working at senior management level in a similar sized and complex organisation
  • Knowledge and expertise across a number of business areas relevant to the role i.e. people/education, performance management, organisational strategy and change.
  • Demonstrable success of providing leadership and direction and developing the cultural/education plans for a similar sized organisation
  • Professional qualification in relevant discipline, e.g. leadership, education, organisational development
  • Member relevant professional body and evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Implementing successful organisational change and people development interventions in a large complex organisation
  • Leading the provision of multi-disciplinary education and learning to meet regulatory/ accreditation standards (e.g., Ofsted, Awarding Bodies)
