Job overview

We're recruiting for an Administration Manager to work within HMP Styal.  The post holder will manage the Admin team, be responsible for reporting requirements.  The post holder will need to be conscientious, meticulous, and at all times act in a confidential manner.  The post holder will need to be highly motivated, be able to work unsupervised, be able to use own initiative, prioritise own workload, be able to deal with a number of complex issues at one time and work under pressure. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take overall responsibility for the leadership and provision of a high quality administrative service to the Health and Justice Teams, service users and stakeholders at HMP Styal.  This involves leading and line managing the administrative team to ensure that a quality service is delivered, and all targets and deadlines ae met.  This will incorporate skills such as compassionate leadership, innovation, creativity and collaboration across all levels within the team and the wider network of Spectrum.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Business or relevant subject degree or equivalent experience
  • GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
  • European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent to evidence competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification (or equivalent)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a busy office environments
  • Experience of working within administrative teams
  • Line management experience
  • Experience of filing information and retrieval systems.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with confidential/sensitive information.
  • Experience of using computer systems and packages
Desirable criteria
  • Project monitoring

  • Working in a prison or secured environment
