Job overview

Clinical Physiologist in Neurophysiology – Manager (Band 8a)An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Neurophysiology as Manager.The successful candidate will become part of and lead a highly motivated, dedicated and supportive team of one Neurophysiology.The Clinical Neurophysiology Service  undertakes on average 1500 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The department undertakes a comprehensive range of Neurophysiology investigations including routine and advanced EEG recording including Ambulatory EEG in Adults and Children and provides a Portable bedside EEG service at Bradford Royal Infirmary for inpatients including Neonates and Intensive Care patients, as well as Consultant led EMG/NCS and Physiologist led NCS for CTS and Ulnar screening. We see a wide range of patients with referrals coming from all Medical Specialities as well as GP, Community Physiotherapists and Musculoskeletal services.The department in busy and the workload varied and interesting, which offers staff the opportunity for continued learning and development with challenging and fascinating cases.The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years post qualification NHS experience and be AHCS registered in Clinical Neurophysiology and be able to independently undertake complex Neurophysiology investigations (EEG, EMG and NCS) in a wide range of patients and settings. 

Main duties of the job

·       Responsible for the management, organisation and effective service delivery of inpatient and outpatient neurophysiology services to patients of all ages.

·       Trains, supervises, assesses and mentors Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) students and trained Physiologists in Diagnostic procedures.

·       Performs, analyses and reviews a range of complex Neurophysiological investigations and produces reports for Clinicians and General Practitioners.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience including some management and/or supervisory experience
  • Practical experience of a range of Neurophysiological investigations

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Ability to perform complex Neurophysiogical Diagnostic tests and ability to interpret the results.

Qualifications

  • BSc Hons in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent (BTEC, HNC/D)
  • RCCP registration
