We are delighted to seek applications for the post of Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition to strong interests in medical education and service improvement, including enhanced recovery and pain management, our Consultants enhance the profile of the department through their engagement in a variety of wider Trust activities and transformation work.
Sub-specialty interests could be accommodated across the range of specialties at our hospital including paediatric anaesthesia, pain medicine, obstetric anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, orthopaedic anaesthesia and preoperative assessment.
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 12th February 2024 face to face.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be required to contribute to the provision of anaesthetic services across the Trust as part of a team of 33 Consultants, 3 Specialists,10 SAS doctors and 24 trainees. Alongside the usual range of district hospital surgical specialities, here at Salisbury we have a regional Plastic Surgery and Burns service and a supra-regional Spinal Injuries service.
This is a 10 PA post (initially 8.5 DCC PA:1.5 SPA), but it is likely that an additional programmed activity could be offered to the successful candidate. The proportion of SPA would increase in line with increasing responsibilities after appointment. The successful applicant would take part in the general on call rota with a frequency of 1:16.

- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice

- Possession, or within 6 months of possession, of a CCT in Anaesthesia leading to entry to the GMC Specialist Register

- Demonstrates clarity in written and spoken communication
- Demonstration of an interest, ability and commitment to teaching trainees and others. Enthusiastic with the ability to inspire others
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in Anaesthetics across the range of surgical specialties at Salisbury District Hospital. Examples would include expertise in paediatric anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
