Job overview

The Laboratory Medicine department currently has a vacancy for a laboratory assistant. We are looking for a friendly and cheerful person, who is practical and has an interest in science. The role involves various duties in the Specimen Reception area of the Blood Sciences laboratory. There are also opportunities to be rostered into specialist areas within the laboratory, such as the Point of Care Testing  Team. 

The role is full time 37.5 hours per week . Part-time options would be considered.  Following an appropriate period of training, the post-holder will be required to undertake participation in the shift system including weekend  and bank holiday rotas.

The post-holder will be supported with training as required for the post and will be part of a support team and required to maintain competency in all relevant areas of the laboratory. Previous medical laboratory experience would be desirable, but full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be literate, numerate and have excellent keyboard skills.
