Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and self motivated person to join our team as Cancer Therapy Team Coordinator.  This is a fixed term administrative role for 9 months and the hours are 18.50 worked across three days, excluding weekends. We are seeking a highly motivated Administrator who has excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. You will be joining a friendly and forward thinking team who aim to improve the lives of people who have Cancer. The successful applicant will need to be self motivated and proficient in using Microsoft programmes such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams. The role includes the following:

  • Providing secretarial and administrative support to the Cancer Therapy Team and work closely with the wider personalised care services such as the Cancer Support Workers. 
  • Having contact with patients, some of whom may be distressed, and booking in appointments for them to see the team.
  • Managing the team email inbox, ensuring relevant documentation is uploaded to the Trusts electronic patient record, and supporting the standard operating procedure for managing the record. You will be taking minutes for specific meetings.
  • Supporting the team with any therapeutic groups ran and managing the administrative aspect of the group.
  • Contributing and managing data collection being captured.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Secretarial/Administrative experience in a customer-focussed environment
Desirable criteria
  • Previous administrative experience within the NHS

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Outlook diary management and Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn systems such as Lorenzo and Somerset.
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills, both in person and on the telephone, successfully managing any barriers to communication
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all multi-disciplinary professionals across all departments, and with GP practices and other providers
  • Ability to work within a team
  • To be able to organise own workload to meet all deadlines and act on own initiative within parameters set by the service
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Have daily tasks to perform and arrange work around these to meet any deadlines, e.g. booking appointments according to defined timescales, sorting incoming and outgoing post, etc
  • Intermediate word processing keyboard
  • Understanding the need for confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS based computer software

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths
  • RSA 2 or equivalent touch typing skills
  • Advanced keyboard skills
