Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Diabetes Specialist Podiatry team.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and committed Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist with a passion for improving the experience and clinical outcomes of our patients, and who inspires others to provide excellent patient care.

We are looking for a Podiatrist who has experience of working autonomously, supporting patients with a variety of diabetes treatments,  and playing a key role in education of other healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Diabetic Foot Ulcer Service Lead, Consultant Podiatrist, and Band 4 Podiatry Technician to deliver and further develop a high-quality specialist Diabetic Foot Ulcer service for both inpatients and outpatients at Salisbury Foundation Trust (SFT), as an integral member of the multidisciplinary Diabetes Team. 1  The successful candidate will autonomously manage a complex caseload of Vascular and Diabetes foot conditions within a multidisciplinary outpatient setting, working closely with Vascular Nurses, sonographers, and Vascular Surgeons, and reporting to a Band 8 Consultant Podiatrist. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive face-to-face consultations, assessments, and treatments for diabetic foot ulcerations, infections, and Charcot foot across the hospital site. Utilizing advanced clinical reasoning and in partnership with the wider diabetes team, the role involves advanced diabetic foot assessment (including vascular, pathology, and radiology testing), the creation of detailed management plans, and effective collaboration with community nursing, podiatry, practice nursing, and ward-based teams, alongside a close working relationship with the hospital Orthotics service. Furthermore, this role will be crucial in delivering education to a range of healthcare professionals across the hospital, focusing on all aspects of diabetic foot assessment and management.
