Main duties of the job

As a Consultant for ENT at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, you will have a range of engaging and professional responsibilities. Your commitment to audit, appraisal, teaching, and clinical governance will be essential in ensuring the highest standards of care and continuous improvement within our department.

Working as part of a dedicated team of four/five Consultants, you will play a vital role in the ongoing development of our service. Your expertise and contributions will contribute to the growth and success of our department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. Additionally, you will actively support our clinical network with University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing between organisations.

Our department is equipped with superbly equipped with full networking providing you with the tools necessary to deliver exceptional care. We have strong links with Maxillo-facial, Plastic surgery, paediatric, cleft lip and palate, and audiology departments, enabling interdisciplinary collaboration and comprehensive patient care.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in both theatre and clinics, ensuring a diverse and fulfilling professional experience. Furthermore, you will be encouraged to develop links with Primary Providers and Commissioners, contributing to the enhancement of our services and strengthening our relationships with external stakeholders.

Essential criteria
  • Possession, or within 6 months of possession, of a CCT leading to entry to the GMC Specialist Register
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in General ENT, and evidence of higher specialist training/fellowship in Otology or Head & Neck/Thyroid surgery. Experience in coblation surgery would be a desirable criteria.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and others. Enthusiastic and ability to inspire others
  • 2 years NHS experience within the last 5 years.
Desirable criteria
  • Commitment to active clinical governance including audit and service improvement
  • Commitment to and experience of risk management including learning from errors and reflective practice.
  • Demonstrates clarity in written and spoken communication
  • Ability to appraise research critically and apply research outcomes to clinical problems
