Microsurgical Fellow in Plastic Surgery

NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow

Job overview

Applications are invited from individuals seeking specialist training in Microsurgical Plastic Surgery reconstruction.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Microsurgical Fellowship in the Plastic Surgery Department at Salisbury Foundation Trust.

Approximately 200 Free Tissue reconstructions are performed within the Department on a yearly basis. The workload includes Complex Limb reconstruction, Breast reconstruction, skin cancer reconstruction, and Head and Neck reconstruction. The Salisbury Plastic Surgery Department provides a full Plastic surgery service to Southampton General Hospital Major Trauma Centre with operating lists on both sites.

The Fellow will gain excellent training in both clinic and theatre, with the aim of training you to assess, perform and manage a range of microvascular procedures.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to play a major role in the Consultant led Trauma service. The service is based at Salisbury Foundation Trust and Southampton General Hospital Major Trauma Centre. You will be required to attend sessions at both sites and will be involved in complex limb reconstruction on a weekly basis.

The Fellow will also be expected to play a major role in the extensive Breast reconstruction practice within the Department. This will include Breast reconstruction MDT's, outpatient clinic assessment and the full range of reconstructive procedures.

Due to the clinical demands of the post it is ideally suited to an applicant who has completed their FRCS (Plast), pre or post CCT, who is seeking further specialist microsurgical training.
