Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a  physiotherapist with occupational health experience  to join a friendly, and supportive team in the Occupational health department at Salisbury Foundation Trust.  You will be invaluable in helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our NHS work staff and help the Trust with its commitment to fulfilling the NHS People Plan and People Promise.

Occupational Health Physiotherapists utilise their skills to accelerate workers recovery from, or self management of, their musculoskeletal conditions and thereby assist their ability to undertake their jobs efficiently and effectively. You will also play a key role in helping to prevent or reduce sickness absence from musculoskeletal disorders.

Provide expert advice to and work closely with General Practitioners, Occupational Health Physicians, Occupational Health Nurses and Line Managers regarding individuals’ fitness to work/return to work and provide workplace ergonomic assessments to prevent/reduce risk of musculoskeletal injury to staff and patients

Main duties of the job

      To be responsible for the operational management and clinical leadership of the Occupational Health (OH) physiotherapy service in conjunction with the Head of Occupational health .

     To use expert physiotherapy knowledge and advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the physiotherapy  team and other healthcare staff  and to manage their own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner

      To ensure a high quality, effective OH staff physiotherapy service.

      To be a member of the Physiotherapy Department Management team, contributing to planning and policy development in the Inter- professional team and department

  To deputise for the Inter-professional Lead as required

Essential criteria
  • Qualified physiotherapist, with minuim of 7 years post qualified
  • occupational health experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of physiotherapy within current emerging health environment and national initiatives
  • Post-graduate course(s) in Occupational Health and Ergonomics.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).
  • Qualified Clinical Supervisor
  • Competent IT skills
