The Main Outpatient Team would welcome applications from Health Care Assistants who enjoy working independently and working within a team in being instrumental in providing patient focused care. This is a part time role of 24 hours per week over three days. The shift pattern will vary over these days to meet the demands of the service. .
The successful candidate will join a well-established team and will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good team player with the ability to work well on their own initiative and willing to take on a variety of duties, whilst having the ability to maintain attention to detail.

We ask that candidates applying for this post have a current NHS Care Certificate and a Health and Social Care Qualification at Level 3 with current secondary care experience.

Main duties of the job
Highlighted below are some of the nursing skills needed for a fast-paced working area such as Outpatients:
- The ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Multidisciplinary Team
- Supporting and assisting your consultant colleagues in the smooth running of their clinics.
- Acting as a chaperone.
- Being able to undertake baseline measurements; BMI, blood pressures, blood sugar monitoring, ECG’s, Urinalysis and after training spirometry, venepuncture and/or cannulation.
If you do not already possess all required skills, additional training will be given to support you in this role but this may initially be at a Band 2 until all Band 3 competencies have been achieved.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills, able to communicate respectfully verbally and in writing.
- Ability to learn new skills
- Significant experience in a Health Care setting as a Health Care Assistant.
- Recording ECGs
- Undertake Venepuncture and Cannulation
Desirable criteria
- Experience within link role for specialist area –eg falls, infection control etc
- Supporting new starters, including inducting them to the clinical environment, supporting with competency and care certificate completion
