Are you interested in a rewarding new career in pharmacy? The Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) programme allows you to earn whilst training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
Supported by a respected and inclusive pharmacy team our PTPTs gain practical experience and develop knowledge, skills and behaviours in dispensary, pharmacy stores and on the hospital wards. This is whilst undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an external education provider. Once completed, PTPTs are eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
The post is a 2-year fixed term, full-time contract of 37.5 hours a week with a weekend rota (approximately 1 in 8 weekends) and a bank holiday commitment.
Please note this position is due to start in February 2025.
Candidates must be eligible for an apprenticeship to apply for the role.
Permanent employment is not guaranteed at the end of the training programme contract but once registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC, you can apply for pharmacy technician roles nationally.

Main duties of the job
Applicants will;
- need FOUR GCSEs grade C/level 4 or above including English language, Maths and at least one Science (or equivalent). Certificates will be requested at interview
- have good communication skills
- be eager and able to study, learn and work simultaneously
- be able to manage multiple deadlines
Pharmacy experience from any background is desired and encouraged but is not essential as full training will be given.
Overseas qualifications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must have obtained a ‘Statement of Compatibility’ of their overseas qualifications from the UK National Information Centre for the recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skill UK ENIC (formally NARIC) www.enic.org.uk. This will need to be seen at interview.
Successful candidates will need to be hardworking, motivated, and dedicated to achieving the qualification as it requires self-driven learning in your own time and during allocated study time.

Essential criteria
- Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/Level 4 or above. Must include Maths, English language and a Science

- NVQ(or equiv) level 2 Pharmaceutical Science (or working towards)
Previous experience

- Previous experience in a healthcare setting
