Job overview

Everybody's talking about Autism!

From documentaries, news stories, podcasts, tv-shows and novels, Autism has never been more high-profile, and discussions around neurodiversity have never been so wide-ranging and forward-thinking.

As public awareness has grown, so have the number of referrals into the Children's Autism Assessment Service, and our team has received additional funding to expand our administrative team to meet this demand.

This is an opportunity to be part of the evolving conversation around Autism by supporting the admin work of this dynamic team.

You'll work alongside therapists, nurses and doctors from a wide variety of clinical backgrounds, offering a diagnostic assessment pathway which has the needs of the individual child at its heart.

If you enjoy speaking to families on the phone, working as part of small admin team, and if you're IT-savvy and able, with support, to problem-solve, be flexible, use your own initiative and prioritise your workload, then this might be the role for you!

Main duties of the job

You will support the processing of referrals into the Childrens Autism Assessment Service.

You will book initial and follow-up clinical assessments, ensuring all clinics are filled.

You will monitor waiting lists in accordance with waiting time targets and the Patient Access Policy, under the management of the Admin Manager and Operational Lead.

You will liaise with families daily to book appointments, answer routine/urgent queries and concerns and change appointment times.

You will liaise with Community Paediatricians, Allied Health Professional services, secretaries, GPs, Health Visitors, School Health, interpreters, and other departments to meet service needs.

You will manage and prioritise families into the Community ASD clinics based on the waiting list and pathway criteria.

You will ensure patient confidentiality and health and safety is maintained at all times.

You will action incoming email correspondence raising any queries with the Senior Admin Team Lead.

You will have good local knowledge about how Community Child Health interfaces with other partners within the CCHP and also with social care, education and the acute hospital sector.

You will listen to the voice of the child to deliver the most appropriate support for the clinical teams
