Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the administration team in the Emergency Department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
As a part of this very busy team, the successful applicant is expected to be very flexible in approach to service needs, have a pleasant personality and a positive approach to their work. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required along with the ability to deal with sensitive matters and highly confidential patient information. Applicants must also have a good standard of education, be adaptable and have good organisational skills. The post holder is expected to provide effective administrative support to the clinical team in the Emergency Department.
Nights 22:00-08:30 or 09:00 on a 3 on 6 off basis
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive reception service to the Emergency Department whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that an effective service is provided and patient satisfaction is maximised. Also to promptly and efficiently exercise own judgement to resolve patient queries within own professional constraints.
By the nature of the duties, the post holder will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with staff, patients, carers and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE or equivalent level
- NVQ level 3 in Customer Care or equivalent qualification or experience
- Welsh speaking - minimum level 3 required
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous clerical/office/reception experience
- Customer Service experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to use MS Windows, Word, Excel, TEAMS
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work on own initiative
Desirable criteria
- Previous use of the hospital systems i.e. Symphony / WPAS
- Previous experience of communication, confidential information
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
