Job overview

This post is fixed term/secondment for 8 months to meet the needs of the service.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. 

Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

This position will offer a complete training schedule under the supervision of experienced chemotherapy nurses; this will enable the post holder to become a competent / autonomous practitioner caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join the Oncology and Haematology Service on the Shooting Star Unit in Wrexham Maelor Hospital within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The post will be based on the Unit and be instrumental in the delivery and development of the existing service, working with the existing nursing and medical teams.

We are seeking a nurse with excellent up to date clinical knowledge and skills, some experience of implementing changes within services would be beneficial.

The Registered Nurse will administer chemotherapy, for both Oncology and Haematology patients within the Day Unit. The role will involve liaising regularly with healthcare professionals across health care settings within North Wales and wider.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Experience

  • Experience of holistic nursing care

Skills

Essential criteria
  • To have experience in the cannulation and venepuncture of patients.
  • IV drug certificate
  • Central Line competent

  • To have experience of administrating chemotherapy
