Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse who is ready for a challenge The Surgical Directorate Nurse Management team is seeking a highly self-motivated registered nurse, with a desire to promote and develop clinical excellence in clinical practice.  The successful postholder will join an established Nursing team working in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department

Main duties of the job

The Band 6 post holder will support the overarching Band 7 Senior Sister (Outpatient Services) along with Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse Main  OPD and Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse for Max / Fax OPD. Each of the band 6 Sister / Charge Nurses will manage the aligned Outpatient area and report to Band 7 Senior for day to day Quality & Safety Governance assurances. 

The post holder will work collaboratively as a member of the Outpatients team to ensure assessments of daily allocation of staff to aligned clinics and management of patient services 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • NMC Reg Nurse
  • Diploma in Nursing or willingness to undertake
  • Advanced Life Support or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in Nursing or relevant clinical/professional subject
  • Management Qualification
  • Alert, Raat, APLS,PLS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post reg experience at band 5
  • Experience within an appropriate orthopaedic clinical area
Desirable criteria
  • experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good ward organisational skills
  • Problem solver
  • Negotiate and communicate with patients and members of MDT team
  • IT Skills email, word, myddryn, oracle, TPATH
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced clinical skills - venepuncture, phlebotomy, ECG
