Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity to develop Primary Care Services within a prison in partnership with the His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). 

This post is key to the development and delivery of high quality, evidence based health and wellbeing services to give prisoners access to interventions and support equitable to those provided by the NHS in the community.

Main duties of the job

As Primary Care Team Leader you will be responsible for the clinical management and leadership of the Primary Care Services within the Primary Care Team whilst working with a multi-disciplinary team of health and wellbeing professionals to deliver high quality services to patients.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a challenging but rewarding role for an individual who is an excellent communicator, confident and able to exercise strong leadership and management skills.  As part of the Healthcare Team you will provide healthcare to those in custody, whilst working flexibly to meet the changing needs of the services across Primary Care, Integrated Substance Misuse & Mental Health. You will also contribute to an on-going programme of development to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained, whilst fostering effective working relationships with HMPPS, prison colleagues and other stakeholders.

Please note that any offer of employment will be subject to the successful receipt of a DBS and prison vetting clearances.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC registration 1st Level Nurse (RN) registered to work in the UK
  • Evidence of having developed clinical practice and Continued Professional Development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience at Band 6 or 7 or equivalent.
  • Experience of dealing with multidisciplinary organisational issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using clinical information systems.
