Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic, solution-focused individual with a drive for HR excellence. The Head of Human Resource Services & Employee Relations is a pivotal member of the People Directorate and plays a key role in leading these areas of focus.

An experienced employee relations professional demonstrated successful delivery of HR operational and advice services with a view to advancing HR best practice and modern HR approaches.

This role will support the development of the People function specifically around Employee Relations, Policy development, advancement of a Restorative Just and Learning culture and to use our policies and process to support our workforce at Sirona,

The role will lead initiatives to develop our relationships with trade union and staff side groups. The role will design and implement a strategic approach to policy development and work with our Culture, Staff Engagement, EDI and Wellbeing leads.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief People Officer and Director of HR this role will have regular direct contact with the Senior Leaders across Sirona. 
Ideally you will have extensive experience of working within the public sector at a similar level and within a complex organisation.

Main duties of the job

This role will report to the Deputy Chief People Officer (DCPO) and play a pivotal role in the transformation and improvement of Sirona through our people.

The post holder will lead the Human Resources (HR) Services and Employee Relations (ER) function and team, all HR governance, terms and conditions of employment, HR policy, process, compliance. 

This is a key role that will require strong links and influence with all peers across PDC to ensure legislation is followed, whilst maintaining Sirona’s values, ensuring these are directly linked to the strategic objectives.

Alongside HR expertise, strong employment law and HR practice, you will have a real passion to make change and influence staff to work ethically with an awareness of inclusive practice,  while supporting employee engagement.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Degree level qualification, working towards, and/or equivalent experience in Human Resource Management.
  • • Appropriate professional qualification at level 7 CIPD or equivalent.
  • • Extensive knowledge of Employee Relations, Union negotiations or similar areas.
  • • Extensive knowledge of specialist area with evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Postgraduate qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven and significant leadership experience within a complex organisation preferably within healthcare or the public sector.
  • Experience of leading and motivating diverse groups of professional staff to create high performing teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully developing and leading organisational and workforce strategies,
  • Extensive experience working effectively with union colleagues and external legal partners.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to develop and translate strategies into operational plans for large complex organisations.
  • Able to successfully lead and implement significant projects, including change projects
