Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant - Adult Day Surgery Unit / Chesterman Unit

This is a Full-Time  post for 37.5 hours per week.

Applicants must be a current Band 2/Band 3 Healthcare Assistant with relevant experience and have completed the Care Certificate - applications from internal candidates welcome.

Theatre escort training is an advantage, although training will be given.

The Adult Day Surgery Unit / Chesterman Unit is looking  for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic team.

We are a busy 34 bedded unit accommodating patients who are having day surgery - we care for both planned and emergency admissions for patients under going surgery, e.g. gynaecology, urology, general surgery, ENT, oral.

Chesterman is a 13 bedded admission suite for inpatient admissions.

Main duties of the job

You will be working under the supervision of the registered nurses and be involved in recording patients vital signs and recording on EPR, admitting patients who are having local anesthetic procedures, escorting patients to theatre after completing of the theatre escort course.

Competency of ECG and venepuncture is preferable, although willingness to undertake these skills is required if you do not already have them.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Caring for patients pre & post operatively - ensuring the unit is clean & tidy and assisting the qualified nurses:

1/ To assist the the registered nurse in patient care.

2/ Helping to prepare patients for theatre & escorting them to theatre.

3/ Daily ward tasks such as cleaning, putting away ward stock.
