Detailed job description and main responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will join a team of dedicated radiotherapy engineers in provision of first line support to the radiotherapy equipment.
You will undertake planned preventative maintenance.
You will be developed to be able to analyse and repair complex faults.
You will support ongoing development of new techniques.
You will be encouraged to do project work and present at internal and external meetings
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
If you have previous relevant experience, you will be appointed at Band 6.
Otherwise, this is a progressive post and you will receive training to support development from Band 5 to 6.
This will include attendance at Elekta 1st and 2nd line training to develop specialist skills with this equipment.
Our ideal candidate will have completed training as a clinical technologist (engineering).
You will be able to travel between Southampton and Basingstoke.
Our preferred working pattern would be 12.5 hours 3 days per week but there will be scope for discussion at interview.

Qualifications / training
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE’s Grade C Maths, English Language & Science or equivalent.
- 2 A-Levels in Science related subjects or equivalent (e.g. BTEC HNC/HND in applied Sciences or Electrical Engineering).
- Evidence of Level 6 learning (e.g BSc. Healthcare Practitioner Degree or BEng)
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Linear Accelerator experience and knowledge gained through formal manufacturers training courses.
Previous or relevant experience
Essential criteria
- Practical experience and understanding of complex devices.
- Maintenance of equipment with fault finding to component level
Desirable criteria
- Work within a Quality Management system.
- Experience in R&D environment
