Clinical Scientist Rare Disease Genomics

Band 7

Job overview

The East Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) is recruiting HCPC registered Clinical Scientists to support the expansion of the Rare Disease Genomic Service to provide large scale, high quality, patient-centric genomic testing.

You should be motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team in an area of core or specialist testing using a range of techniques, including whole genome sequencing, and utilising molecular and cytogenomics skills. There are opportunities to contribute to service development and R&D.

Applications are invited from HCPC Registered Clinical Scientists with post-graduate qualifications in Genomics and significant experience in a genomic diagnostic environment; scientists close to registration are encouraged to apply. We support flexible, part-remote and part-time working. The East GLH provides genomic testing for the diagnosis and monitoring of rare and inherited diseases, haematological malignancies and cancers. We are working to provide equal access to testing for a population of 8.3 million people within the East Midlands and East of England. Our vision is for the East GLH to become a national leader for clinical translation and implementation of new tests and technologies, and to build an international reputation as a research active, clinically accredited genomic laboratory.
