The organisation will lead on large-scale developments that make a significant difference to the people of Wales as well as to health and care professionals, such as expansion of the digital patient record and the creation of a National Data Resource. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the Primary Care Operational Team within the Directorate for Primary, Community and Mental Health (PCMH) who can work, learn and actively contribute to the team. Working in a busy environment, you will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills. The role of Primary Care Facilitator encompasses a wide range of responsibilities in supporting the delivery of digital technologies and services across Wales. We provide a “hands on” approach to delivering national initiatives across NHS Wales supporting GP Contractors, Pharmacies, Prisons, Opticians and Dental Practices through engagement, implementation, evaluation and training, working together to enhance citizen healthcare across Wales.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS BASED IN SWANSEA.

Main duties of the job

Establish and maintain effective two way written and verbal communication with Stakeholders as directed by Line Manager. Discuss with Stakeholders their existing and future IT business needs, ensuring these expectations are understood, agreed and proactively managed. Liaise with internal DHCW colleagues informally or in meetings as appropriate. Monitor service requests and act as an escalation point for Stakeholder issues, liaising with DHCW teams, Health Boards and Suppliers, as necessary. Updating Stakeholders on new developments, system changes, service information etc to include presentations, 1:1 virtual and onsite meetings. Represent DHCW and Primary Care as requested at local and national events. Provide advice and guidance to Primary Care Stakeholders in accordance with national procedures and guidelines virtually or onsite. Responsible for providing and receiving information in relation to products/services projects and workstreams that will need to be interpreted and communicated to team members. Liaising with Product Support Managers, internal DHCW colleagues and teams as required. Support the design and delivery of presentations to Stakeholder audiences.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development for self.
  • PRINCE2 foundation or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Primary Care systems and suppliers.
Desirable criteria
  • Registered with a relevant informatics professional body.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Clinical Terms.
  • Knowledge of NHS Wales organisations & ITIL strategy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of DHCW.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS standards and legal requirements relating to Information Governance and Security

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of delivering customer services in a Primary Care setting
  • Experience in delivering projects in a Primary Care setting
Desirable criteria
  • Presenting to small groups
