We are recruiting for a IT (Server) Infrastructure Manager who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be expected to represent IT Services to the majority of the Trust’s IT users, and as such the post-holder will require expert technical skills, and the professionalism and initiative to resolve problems as efficiently as possible.
As an IT Infrastructure Manager you will lead the Trust's IT Infrastructure Team, maintaining the service capability of the Trust’s IT infrastructure, specifically in the area of Data Centre, Cloud, Server, Virtualisation, Storage, Cyber Security, Resiliency and Backup infrastructure.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role of the IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for ensuring the technical completeness (fit-for-purpose) of the Trust IT infrastructure, specifically in the areas of innovation, resiliency, security and support. The position will provide technical, leadership and consulting across the organisation, incorporating all relevant IT technologies supporting strategic decision making, technical project planning and deployment.
This position will act as the leader and operational manager of the IT Infrastructure team to ensure call queues, work lists, routine operations and projects are delivered effectively. The management of this team and the its deliverables will be provided using best practice methodologies and governance processes.
To develop the IT service through continuous service improvement; striving to improve quality and service levels in line with Trust requirements. To research and develop the IT Infrastructure in line with industry best practice. To ensure IT infrastructure and solutions are appropriately and cost effectively designed and implemented to sufficiently support the Trusts clinical and operational capability.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Computer Sciences or related degree or equivalent proven experience
- Minimum 5 years in a server infrastructure support or development role. With proven experience as a senior technician.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MSCE or comparable qualification) preferred.
- Server virtualisation technologies e.g Hyper V and/or VMWare etc.
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation or Expert level preferred.
- PRINCE2 Foundation preferred.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A proven knowledge of IT standards and systems management methodologies
- Good understanding of solutions architecture methodologies
- Advanced Knowledge in a range of multiple operating systems such as Azure, MS Server, UNIX, Linux etc. Including their server based roles and features.
- SQL Database Administration.
- High Availability (HA) solutions including Windows Clustering and load balancing.
- Hyper-V and vCentre Proficiency including understanding of vMotion and vSwitches and VMware
- SAN, fibre channel and iSCSI knowledge
- Understanding of MS licencing
- Proficiency in managing Backup and DR strategies.
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, Batch and Bash.
- Strong knowledge in enterprise network solutions and methodologies, including TCP/IP, Routing, VLAN’s, subnets, LACP and STP (MSTP/VSTP).
- Basic knowledge of enterprise network switch and router configuration.
- Advanced knowledge of Domain Controllers and Active Directory.
- Strong understanding of encryption technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of IT problem resolution.
Experience

- Proven experience of programming/system automation scripts, powershell etc.
- Proven experience of backup software management and configuration.
- Proven experience of implementing and managing infrastructure management solutions such as solar winds, WDS WSUS, etc
- Minimum 5 Years NHS IT Experience
- Demonstrable experience of working with and implementing Clinical Applications and infrastructure, ISO 9000, BS 7799 and successors
- Basic understanding of legislation that affects IT security in the NHS. Including GDPR, Computer Misuse Act, Safe Harbour, Freedom of Information Act (2000) and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (2000) RIPA. Also a basic understanding of ISO / IEC standards relevant to IT security.
