To bolster our efforts and continue to provide high quality, patient focussed services, we are seeking a Locum Appointment in Service (LAS) Doctor to join our Lincoln services, as part of an FY2 trainee level vacancy. We are looking for 3 doctors who are passionate and committed to the development of psychiatry and who have evidence of achievement commensurate with the completion of FY2 trainee level.
The postholder must have at least 12 months of experience in psychiatry and 6 months of experience in an inpatient psychiatry setting.
The roles are full-time at 40 hours per week, as part of a 3-month fixed term contract. These posts run in line with resident doctor rotations and are planned to cover until 4th August 2025.

Main duties of the job
Establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and those relatives, friends or carers involved in their care
Undertake clinical assessment of in-patients with acute mental health problems
Gain experience through observing the Consultant interviewing patients and those involved in their care, during ward reviews.
Work closely with ward staff, mainly nursing staff, in observing patients in the ward environment and comparing notes.
Through weekly clinical supervision with the Consultant, the trainee will learn about developing therapeutic relationships. ACE, Mini- ACE, and CbDs will be used to assess this.
Learn, through supervised clinical work, how to take comprehensive histories. This will include perusing past psychiatric case notes, the information therein incorporated in the history. The trainee will be expected to present these histories during ward reviews, allowing them to practice these skills on a regular basis. The supervision will extend to the weekly one to one supervision sessions where more delicate matters can be discussed. Assessment of risk will be a key aim as part of the history-taking and examination of mental state. This will cover any harm to self and any harm to others.
Examination of the patient will include not only the mental state but the patient’s physical state as well, including the carrying out of any relevant investigations such as blood tests or scans.

The Trust cares for around 53,000 patients a year and has around 200 inpatient beds across the Trust.
The Trust has an active and successful research department. We deliver an impressive portfolio of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) clinical trials across the county, covering all areas of clinical care. A team of NIHR funded delivery staff support this work. The Trust has established a strong track record for delivery of industry trials and was highly praised by CQC for our commitment to dementia research.
