Job overview
Main duties of the job
Lambeth Home Treatment Team (HTT) and Crisis Outreach Service (COS) Specialty Doctor will provide senior medical input into the Lambeth HTT and COS. This will involve assessment and treatment of patients under these teams and working within the MDTs involved which support and treat patient in crisis in the community including facilitating early discharge from the local inpatient wards and diverting patients from local A&E departments as an alternative to hospital admission.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• provide enthusiastic, flexible, senior medical input for Lambeth HTT & Lambeth COS alongside the other speciality doctor, resident doctors and two consultants
• assess and manage patients with the multidisciplinary teams, devise appropriate treatment plans and medication regimes, providing a prompt medical response
• ensure excellence in the delivery of evidence-based treatments
• act as a source of support, advice and information to patients, carers, referrers, team members and other professionals
• undertake responsibilities under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 as needed
• keep up-to-date with developments in research and treatment around acute care pathways and inpatient mental health care
• develop strong working relationships with outside stakeholders, notably GPs, local authority social services, housing providers and local voluntary organisations including our Lambeth Alliance partners
• work flexibly with other teams at SLaM, other mental health trusts, and the voluntary sector, to ensure good coordination of care
• contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as for the wider training and educational activities in the multidisciplinary team
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- GMC full registration
- Section 12 approval within 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
- RCPsych or equivalent membership
- Post grad qualification in relevant area
Experience
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Experience of multi disciplinary working
Desirable criteria
- Experience in relevant specialities such as addictions, liaison and rehabilitation
Academic skills and QI
Essential criteria
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Up to date participation in continuous professional development
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications
- Has led quality improvement projects leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
