Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic & self-motivated Theatre Team Leader to join our Day Surgery Unit in PTHB. We have two operating theatres, one in Breconshire War Memorial Hospital and the other is in Llandrindod Wells Memorial Hospital.
We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational leader to work with our friendly team and you must have in-depth knowledge of theatre with strong leadership skills. High standards & excellent communication skills are required to work within the department, to ensure effective working relationships so that we can deliver a high standard of patient care to Powys patients locally.
Your base will be Breconshire War memorial Hospital, but you will be expected to work flexible across the service area.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for leading and being directly involved with clinical and operational procedures with patients, carers, and relatives.
Lead a multidisciplinary team in the absence of the Theatre Manager dealing with complex issues and escalating to the appropriate people.
Act as a specialist for the Theatre environment.
Assist in clinical supervision of staff within the unit and provide support.
To be involved in clinical audits within the unit.
Responsible for developing rotas and allocating staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- 1st level Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
- Able to articulate and demonstrate activity in meeting requirements of clinical governance
- Demonstrate and put into practice professional achievements
- ODP require HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post basic academic studies at Diploma or degree level
- Possess a post-basic qualification and an ongoing supervision in the perioperative setting
Experience
