Band 2 - Full-time 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and caring Healthcare Assistant, with a passion for working on a surgical ward, to join our supportive and friendly team.

Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is rated as Good by the CQC and we’d welcome applications from individuals committed to being part of the team to maintain and build on this.

Working under the direct supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, Ward Manager nur who delegates tasks to the post holder, the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will deliver high quality nursing care to patients, as part of a team.

So if you’re the kind of person who cares about getting things right, and wants to make a difference in a forward thinking team, we would love to meet you. APPLY NOW!

Main duties of the job

Previous experience in this role is preferred but you will be provided with clinical training to learn the role and will have daily supervision by trained staff to perform safely, confidently and competently the clinical skills required.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Genuine desire to become a part of our amazing team and provide outstanding care for our patients
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as individually
  • Be hardworking, compassionate and have a passion to care to this client group.

The Trust will always provide opportunities and support for your future career pathway and development.

Whilst the registered nurse retains accountability for the care delivered by the HCA, the post holder is responsible for their own practice, working within the defined limits of competence and within the scope of the role.

Working for our organisation

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

We serve an area that is rich in diversity, with a mix of urban and rural areas, and differing levels of quality of life. We cover some of the most prosperous postcodes in the country, as well as some poorer areas. Together with our colleagues at NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we work to make sure that we deliver the best possible care to the communities we serve.

The Trust employs approximately 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
