Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Outpatient Supervisor who is organised, flexible, enthusiastic and well-motivated to take on this role in our Appointment Booking Centre.  You must be capable of working in a busy and challenging environment. 

You will work closely with the Outpatient Team Leaders and will be responsible for the day to day supervision and training of the Outpatient Clerks.  You will support the provision of an efficient administration service within the Appointment Booking Centre.

Main duties of the job

To join our team, you must be committed to the delivery of a first class administrative service.  As well as having excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.  Previous experience working in a supervisory role along with knowledge of eRecord would be advantageous along with knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.  Having the ability to communicate with members of the public, all staff and health care providers are essential requirements of the role as is working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that our high standard of patient care is maintained.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To assist in the organisation of the activity, the deployment and supervision of staff in the outpatient departments and Appointment Booking Centre, maintaining a level of efficiency to meet the needs of the outpatient service.

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification / experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • • Knowledge of Policies and Procedures appertaining to OPD
  • • Knowledge of NHS Guidelines
  • • Experience of the functionality of the Patient Administration System (PAS) and eReferral system
  • • Understanding of confidentiality issues
  • • Understanding of the data protection act 1998
